Without mincing words

Burlesque or Striptease Do you know what the difference is?
This author is inclined to believe that all she has learned about Burlesque is that it should represent class, elegance
and subtle seduction in the art of stripping.
Assuming that all of you, dear Burlesque performers, have taken the trouble to inform yourselves about how and
under what circumstances the profession you so proudly perform was born and its history and origins (after all, it
was a striptease from times gone by) you also know that the ultimate goal is to honor nudity which, as we know, has
always been considered seductive since the times of Sodom and Gomorrah (after all, there are those who already
go on stage naked covered only by feather fans: a classic).
So, despite your great effort in preparing music, costumes and sets with a great expenditure of money and energy,
you must know that when you proudly tell people that you do “Burlesque”, they will think: Ahh! She’s a stripper! Or
worse yet… You’re a porn star.
If you’re of an age that’s no longer “appropriate” or a body that’s not exactly perfect… Or that doesn’t fit into today’s
aesthetic standards… Here they think: Ahh! the old or fat girl gets naked!
Add to that the saggy tits and flabby ass… you think you’ve done a heroic act by showing them (so much for body
positivity) but you have no idea what your “sisters” who are applauding you compassionately downstairs think and
say about you.
So, you may feel like heroes but unfortunately it involves undressing.
How at this point it’s no longer relevant… In any case, look at the example of some porn stars who have lent
themselves to making non-pornographic films and shows in clubs obviously dressed and coiffed in Burlesque style
(which no longer distinguishes them from those authentic performers) and… get dressed!
Applause and comments will come: look at that ass, poor thing… but why don’t you get your tits done?
In conclusion, the author answers the first question with this consideration.
What makes the difference? A measly little piece of cloth covering the most intimate part where pubic hair should
naturally reside (did you know that 90% of men prefer it shaved?
It’s fashionable, the TREND that is instilled as the image of women that your fellow pornstars, the new unbridled
burlesque divas, are proposing right now) and then… two sequin headbands covering the nipples… maybe.
Think about it and who knows, maybe you’ll decide to change your profession (at least there you earn more money).
